FOTEC operates a modern and state-of-the-art laboratory for additive manufacturing (3d printing) of metals and polymers. Since 2010 highly complex prototypes and structural parts are designed and manufactured at FOTEC by laser beam melting.
To provide companies a neutral place for requests in the field of additive manufacturing, a “Laboratory for Manufacturing Innovation (LMI) for 3d printing” has been established at FOTEC. This initiative is a collaboration between the province of Lower Austria, the Lower Austrian Economic Chamber, the University of Applied Sciences Wiener Neustadt and FOTEC.
Hirtenberger Engineered Surfaces
Hirtenberger Engineered Surfaces is part of the Hirtenberger group and technical partner for innovative functional metal surfaces. In the field of 3D printing the surface of the printed part is in focus. In the last years Hirtenberger Engineered Surfaces has become one of the most important providers of industrial posttreatment of 3D-printed metal parts. The newly developed technology Hirtisation forms a powerful tool for such posttreatment: adhering particles and powder cakes as well as support structures are removed and surfaces are smoothened, entirely without the use of any mechanical processing steps. Hirtisation is suitable for all common 3D-printed metals and alloys. A fully autonomous Finishing Module for Hirtisation of 3D-printed metal parts, the H3000, gives the process flow a high efficiency and enables full automatisation.
